The Way To Properly Pack Your Things For First Time Movers

It’s time to move, and you have no idea how to get everything packed. Has this situation ever happened to you before? More than likely it has, and if this is your first time moving, then you are going to need some good advice. There are many tips that can benefit you with choosing a moving company, knowing when to plan your move, and other aspects of moving, but perhaps the most important thing to know is how to properly pack your things. If you are new to packing your belongings then there are a few tips that you need to know.

Boxes are used for the majority of your smaller items and loose ends. When packing a box, there are a few things to take note of for safety and simplicity. As you pack your box, you will not want to put in items that could damage the box or make the box weak. This can be a number of things, but liquids are among the worst things you can pack into a box. Not only do they damage the box, but the chemicals in the liquid could also damage some of the other items that you have inside the box. Also, be sure that you do not over pack your box. You will want it to be easy to seal up with tape and lift. It is far better to pack light and use more boxes than to overfill a few boxes and risk them breaking or being too heavy to move.

Using paper and bubble wrap is also important when you are packing. While you can fill your boxes with it to absorb impact, newspaper and bubble wrap should be used for your glass, fragile, or highly breakable items first. Wrap the object as carefully as possible, and make sure that you line the container that you place them in with either soft linens or more bubble wrap as well. Your furniture can also benefit from being wrapped in bubble wrap. Using bubble wrap to wrap up certain pieces of furniture can prevent scratches, punctures, and even keep your furniture intact.

Knowing the right way to pack up everything keeps your items safe while you transport. Proper packing also reduces the work involved in lifting, carrying, and stacking your items as well. As you start to plan out your move, take note of what you will need in order to safely and properly pack up your belongings for moving day.

Call Them

It is now time to start calling the service providers. Create a spreadsheet to facilitate comparison of prices, services, options, pros and cons, location, accessibility, etc. for each company. This should help you narrow down your choices to a few providers.

Don't hesitate to ask tough questions:
Since how many years has your business been in existence?
Is your company licensed/certified?
Do you offer inter-state services?
What are the costs?

Tell me something about your drivers and movers?

What additional features do you offer?

Get the point? Now prepare your own list of questions.
Prepare a list of what-I-want-from-my-mover questions. Once you have completed this preliminary process you should have a fair idea about the type of moving company you will need.
