| Select the right boxes |
| The right box size can not only maximize space utilization but can also prevent breakage and provide protection against accidents. Experts recommend choosing boxes of a uniform size to optimize space utilization. Stronger boxes, though space consuming, can provide protection for fragile items. In addition to the box lining consider using bubble wraps, newspapers, and other fillers to eliminate empty space and create an artificial cushion to hedge against the risk of breakage. Label boxes to indicate contents. This will eliminate the need to open the box every time you want to check its contents. Firmly secure the bottom of the box with tape. |
| Appliances and equipment |
| Appliance manufacturers normally provide instructions for care, maintenance, and packing. Try to follow these instructions as they will ensure their safety during the moving process. If you own a lot of electrical equipment use the original packing material that came with the merchandise. |
| Pack each room individually |
| Make liberal use of markers and labels to help you organize and stack boxes from each room. |
