The right box
size can not only maximize space utilization but can also
prevent breakage and provide protection against accidents.
Experts recommend choosing boxes of a uniform size to optimize
space utilization. Stronger boxes, though space consuming,
can provide protection for fragile items. In addition to
the box lining consider using bubble wraps, newspapers,
and other fillers to eliminate empty space and create an
artificial cushion to hedge against the risk of breakage.
Label boxes to indicate contents. This will eliminate the
need to open the box every time you want to check its contents.
Firmly secure the bottom of the box with tape.

Start well ahead of time
Ideally, you should start packing at least four
to six weeks ahead of time. This will give you plenty
of time to tackle contingencies. |
 |
Create a list of packing items
Boxes, scissors, tapes, markers, labels-make a list
of all the items you are going to need and keep
them ready before you start packing.. |
 |
Protect from moisture
Moisture can easily seep from the floor so it is
always a good idea to use a plastic cover or blanket
for the floor. This will prevent moisture exposure. |
 |
Use covers for delicate items
and furniture
If you own scratch-prone furniture or delicate items,
use bubble wraps and blankets to prevent scratches
